ABOUT ABOUT

Please join us on Saturday, October 24 in Maitland, Florida for a discussion about the future of Florida’s parks.

Our renowned state park system is threatened by misguided new policies. Other state conservation lands, county and city parks, and local land conservation programs lack adequate funding to meet needs for acquisition, management, operations and maintenance.

Some legislators and state and local officials believe that the public owns too much land. Others claim that public lands are not well managed and should be sold off or put to revenue-generating commercial uses.

There is an urgent need for parks advocates to come together on an action plan for rebuilding support for our priceless parks and other public lands.

We are inviting leaders of conservation, environmental, recreational and civic groups to discuss the future of state and local parks and to develop an action plan to reassert the public’s support for investment in parks and conservation lands through both acquisition and management.

The meeting starts with a lunch program led by Jim Stevenson and will continue with facilitated discussion.  You have been identified as someone whose views and actions matter.

Join us at the Sheraton in Maitland, Florida.  October 24, Noon through 4:00 PM.

Florida’s parks thank you.
