Registration costs for the Academy are kept as low as possible.  In addition, chapters underwrite attendees, so check with your own chapter to see if reimbursement is possible.  Academy registration includes Friday pizza party and Saturday lunch; please indicate your lunch choice during checkout.  Saturday’s walking workshops are also included, please indicate which you would like to attend during checkout.

FACILITIES:  The Lakeside Inn, established in 1883 and listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, is situated on the shore of Lake Dora in the quaint village of Mount Dora.  Centrally located in Florida, the newly renovated Inn is close to wonderful birding and nature viewing sites such as Emeralda Marsh and Lake Apopka North Shore Restoration Area.  Go to www.lakeside-inn.com for directions and additional information.

LODGING:  MAKE YOUR RESERVATION NOW!  Special “Audubon” rate of $99 +tax/double available until Fri., March 1st at Lakeside Inn. This rate is available for the nights of April 10–15 in case you wish to arrive early or stay on after Academy. For reservations, call 352-383-4101 (local) or 800-556-5016 (long distance).  Reservation requests after March 1st will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.

CAMPING:  Camping is available at Wekiwa Springs State Park www.floridastateparks.org/WekiwaSprings (18 miles/30 min), Orange County’s Magnolia Park http://apps.ocfl.net/dept/CEsrvcs/Parks/ParkDetails.asp?ParkID=26 (16 miles/24 min), and a number of private parks.

FOOD:  The hospitality suite will be open both Friday and Saturday evenings, hosted by Audubon chapter volunteers. There will be a free pizza party Friday evening poolside (indicate if you plan to attend).  Full buffet breakfast is available at Lakeside Inn on Saturday and Sunday (prepay, meal ticket will be included in registration packet; restaurant opens at 6:30 a.m.).  Lunch Saturday is included with registration (please indicate meal selection).  Have dinner Saturday evening with a group of Audubon friends at the Beauclaire restaurant at Lakeside Inn or one of many restaurants in downtown Mount Dora – information to be provided at registration desk.

FRIDAY FIELD TRIPS (self-guided):  Great birding can be found nearby at Emeralda Marsh Conservation Area (www.sjrwmd.com/recreationguide/emeraldamarsh/) and Lake Apopka Restoration Area (www.sjrwmd.com/recreationguide/lakeapopka/) or many other excellent sites in and around Mount Dora.  Don’t forget your binoculars, field guide, hat, insect repellent, water bottle, and sunscreen.
